Special Educational Needs (SEN)

Our SEN Statement of Intent
At Lynwood we are committed to the inclusion of all children. All children have the right to be cared for and educated to fulfil their full potential alongside their peers, and we believe that each child’s needs are unique, and we work hard to ensure no child is discriminated against or put at a disadvantage.
Meet our Senco
My name is Katrina, and I am the SENCo at Lynwood. I have been a SENCo in a range of different settings over 7 years, in April 2021 I completed my Level 3 Early Years Senco Award. I am extremely passionate about my SENCo role; I am truly grateful for being able to support amazing children and families throughout their early years journey.
What the SENCO Does
The SENCo role has many different elements including, leading a team, co-ordinating support, empowering practitioners, and families, supporting families, modelling practice, providing resources and strategies for children, advocating on behalf of children and families, training, and mentoring.
The SENCo supports families in a wide range of different situations, including discussing concerns about development, arranging support, and applying for funding, making referrals, providing help and advice but most importantly being a person of support for parents and families through what can be a very difficult time.

Parent Partnership
Parent partnership is vital to ensure a child centred approach; you know your child best and without your support and involvement your child is likely not to receive the best possible support. My role as SENCo is to build those trusting relationships where you feel that you can share your thoughts and feelings.
Parents must know that they can rely on the SENCo as an important member of their child’s life, and I will do everything I can to ensure the greatest care for your child. I am extremely proud of the relationships with parents and families I have built over the years, standing in their corner so that your child is able to fulfil his/her full potential and achieve the very best he/she can, no matter the ability.
What we can offer
All children are welcomed into our Lynwood family with open arms, we will always provide the best care, education and support we can.
